LEADING THE WAY

Over the years Eagle Boys Pizza has won numerous awards on various grounds.
Here are some of the most recent.

National Retail Association Awards 2008

In June 2008 Eagle Boys Pizza was named Australia's Supreme Retailer and Best Franchise Retailer by the National Retail Association as part of the 2008 American Express Rewards for Excellence

It was the second consecutive year that Eagle Boys Pizza was crowned Australia's Best Franchise Retailer.

The awards recognised Eagle Boys' growth, marketing initiatives, customer service, staff training and franchise best practice.

Eagle Boys Managing Director Todd Clayton said "This is a true honour to receive these awards which acknowledge how Eagle Boys continues to strive for excellence as it grows. While we are committed to delivering tasty pizzas to customers, we're also focussed on ensuring our staff and franchisees, the backbone of our company, are happy and grow with us," he said.

"In 2007/08, Eagle Boys achieved total sales growth of 20.7%.

"Recent initiatives, such as the launch of 'Double Top' and our campaign highlighting how competitors have shrunk their pizzas, have also helped us to retain our competitive edge."

Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) Golden Target Awards 2008

Eagle Boys' controversial 'Measure Up' campaign was awarded a PRIA Golden Target award in the highly competitive Queensland Consumer Marketing category.

Brisbane public relations consultancy BBS and advertising agency Publicis Mojo joined forces to deliver the advertising, online and integrated marketing communications campaign nationally in November 2007.

BBS Managing Director Amanda Newbery said the high-impact campaign aimed to educate Australian consumers about "multinational pizza giants shrinking the size of traditional large pizzas, while still charging the same price".

"BBS' widespread media coverage directed more than 23,500 viewers to Mojo's hugely popular 'Small Offerings' YouTube video in the first 72 hours of its release. This made the Eagle Boys video the seventh most viewed clip of the week and the most 'clicked-on' link of its category in YouTube's history."

Eagle Boys National Marketing Manager Scott Hamilton said the campaign produced an immediate sales uplift of over 27 per cent, the largest sales spike in the company's history.

"Many stores reported sales increases of over 200 per cent and Eagle Boys has attributed a sustained total sales uplift of 24 per cent to this campaign," he said.

Mr Hamilton said Eagle Boys commissioned independent research to compare large pizzas across the country after receiving reports from pizza lovers on internet forums alleging that competitors' pizzas had been shrinking.

"Consumers differentiate pizza by brand value and price rather than product offering. The fact that Eagle Boys pizzas were found to be more than 20 per cent bigger than its competitors’ large pizzas, provided us with a unique point of difference that had the potential to challenge customer loyalty and ultimately change buyer behaviour," he said.

Clean Slate Awards – Eagle Boys Pizza Myaree

In June 2008 Eagle Boys Pizza Myaree was recognised for its exceptional health and safety record by the City of Melville. One of the first recipients of the city’s Clean Slate Awards, the local pizza store was presented with 4 Gold Stars.

The Clean Slate program encourages the city’s 414 local food premises such as restaurants cafes, takeaway outlets, school canteens and kitchen facilities to take pride in their impeccable health and safety records.

Eagle Boys Pizza Myaree owner Gary Ricciardi said he was thrilled his store had been one of the first recognised in the new local initiative.

"A 4 Star Gold rating is fantastic, and we are really proud to have such an impeccable health and safety record and be recognised for it in our local community," he said.

"We now have our sights set on achieving the coveted 5 Star Gold rating! The only thing left to tick off on the 5 Star criteria is for me to attend a short information session provided by the City of Melville."
